Invitation to "Weaving The Dream!"

A "Live Art" co-creation, Weaving the Dream! celebration will happen at the inaugural WomenRise for Global Peace Women Celebration for Peace, Santa Cruz, California.

Please share this invitation with everyone you know and begin to wonder what piece/peace of cloth you will bring, your gift of cloth/fabric to be co-creatively "woven" into this Sacred Circle. These colorful "gifts" will consist of basically ANY piece of cloth or unfinished fabric (torn t-shirt, remnant from a loved one's garment, something made on your loom…!), sourced by you and holding a personal meaning you want to weave into the circle. Dimensions that work well are 20" long x 4" wide but you can weave with fairly odd variations on this.

When, at the end of the day, you are permeated with all the hope, heart, and peace that a rich celebration of our connectedness engenders, you will return again to this Weaving The Dream! circular structure and now take from it the cloth that catches your eye. Bring it home with you, a personal piece of this unique day.

The concept for Weaving The Dream! is based on recognizing that a circle has been the symbol of wholeness on every continent and for every culture throughout the history of humanity, as has been the ancient craft of weaving. Weaving The Dream! is performed as a sacred and meaningful visual metaphor. We wish to acknowledge and honor that we understand our planet is indeed an interconnected, interlinked, and interdependent community of "seamless fabric"! Its purpose is to honor, celebrate and sacralize our possible future as a harmonious and co-creative world community.

Conceived and created by Penny McManigal, designer and Artist for Peace, Weaving The Dream! became a wondrous number of simultaneous international Weaving The Dream! events for the new Millennium. Weaving The Dream! was first manifested at the International Healing Summit, in Monterey, CA, in October 1997. The Summit included over 200 participants from 19 countries. It has been performed/undertaken across the world including in Russia, China, Australia, France, Britain, the Amazon, and an ever- increasing number of visionary events across the USA.

With special thanks to Denise Schabel, our San Francisco Bay Area Keeper of the Circle(& renowned PanEurhythmy dancer!). She has gifted her energy and presence to the WomenRise inaugural event, and brings the skeletal structure necessary for Weaving The Dream!
