| Why
Women?
The qualities of nurturing, kindness, caring, dignity, integrity, and
loving one another are innate in both women and men. Our cultures have
ignored the value of these qualities and have attributed them primarily
to women. Therefore it is time for women to come forward with these
qualities that they know and live so well.
Women contribute
fully 2/3 of the work in the world. Women constitute over 51% of the
population. What an impact we can have if we all think peace together,
be peace together and act peace together on the same day!
As women we have
been led to believe we were powerless, therefore we were powerless.
We are powerful; our work output and numbers can demand and create the
changes that are desperately needed. As women, we have to do many things
in our lives when we don't know how to do them. Yet we know they have
to be done, so we set our intentions and accomplish our goals.
As women we also
know we can work together - we jump to immediate action in a crisis
for our family, friends and neighbors during illness, natural disaster
or direct attack. Our world is in extreme crisis with all the wars and
the philosophy of greed as a virtue. Let us consciously invest our power
in that which will bring joy, peace, and prosperity to all.
Suggested Actions
• Gather peacefully.
• Wear purple.
• Light a candle in your window, carry a
flashlight, to symbolize peace.
• Greet everyone you encounter with respect.
•
Be the peace you wish to see in the world.
•Lobby your Senators and Representatives.
•Contact the media
•Write opinion pieces and letters to the
editor
•Call in to radio talk shows
What
Do We Want?
• A new agenda that asks different questions.
• Real peace talks.
• True leaders who promote freedom, equality,
and sister-brother-hood.
• Local, national and international policies
to insure safety, peace & harmony among all the peoples of the world.
• To understand that we the people have the
power to create peace.
• The space and time to know we are not alone-to
be aware of the many others who want peace.
Why
Participate?
These are simple actions that everyone can do, with little funding or
planning, and most importantly the only affiliation needed is to be
a member of the human race who wants peace.
For hundreds of
generations the political, social, religious, civic and economic activities
and theories have not been able to stop the many horrors in our world.
These actions for peace are not presenting any specific philosophy except
that we are all human and we are all affected by the insanity. Insanity
is doing the same thing over and over and thinking the results will
be different.
We must live that
change and announce it to the world. Gandhi and Martin Luther King achieved
change - we are the change. When people can hold the vision of a world
where all basic human needs are met, they change their lives. When enough
people do this, the world changes.
Reach
& Impact
The goal is
to have individuals and groups worldwide from all walks of life, cultures,
and religions, from all political, civic, and social affiliations to
spread the word and participate.
The more people in communities worldwide who participate in small and
large groups, and notify the press in their area, the more effective
we will be in achieving our goal of peace.
